An FFP2 (European, EN 149) and an N95 (US, NIOSH) are broadly equivalent filtering facepiece respirators that protect the wearer from airborne particles, verified by particle-filtration and fit. A surgical mask (EN 14683) protects the environment from the wearer and is not a respirator. You cannot sell a surgical mask as an FFP2/N95 or vice versa. A respirator only delivers its rated protection if it seals to the face.
